Biggest Loser Contestant Alison Braun will run in the 2018 HBF Run for a Reason as a Lifeline WA ambassador in the lead up to the 10 year anniversary of her husband passing by suicide.

Alison became a Biggest Loser contestant in 2008 and embarked on a journey of self-discovery that resulted in not only weight loss, but insight into how she was living her life.

Six months after her time on the show, she tragically lost her husband, and father of their three children, Robert, to suicide in November 2008.

By taking part in the run, Alison, who also lost her biological father to suicide, wants to raise awareness of suicide prevention, and get her fitness back on track in the process.

“We may not be able to choose what gets dealt to us in life; however we do get to choose how we allow it to affect us,” she said.

“The loss of my husband and biological father does not define me as a person; it makes me stronger and more determined to bring awareness, change and education.”

“I want to make sure what has happened to our family does not happen to other families.”

Michael Thomson from Channel 9 News and Greg Johnson who is climbing Mount Everest for Lifeline WA in 2019 are also ambassadors for the 2018 HBF Run for a Reason.

The HBF Run for a Reason will take on Sunday May 27, 2018. People who are interested in participating in the event can sign up at hbfrun.com.au.
