“Building a Suicide-Safe South West”

A program of education seminars will be delivered across the South West Region that will inform and empower the community in a way that will enable them to prevent suicide and save lives through education.

In conjunction with the Injury Control Council of WA (ICCWA) the “Building a Suicide-Safe South West” project will be launched at the Bunbury and Districts Power Boat Club, (Lyons Shore, North Cove) Bunbury at 12 noon on September 10 2008.

In the first phase of this project Lifeline WA and ICCWA are hosting FREE community workshops across the South West exploring issues and attitudes suicide prevention and ‘A Way Through’.

100 Men project

80% of suicides in Australia are Men

Lifeline WA and Perth Primary Care Network invite 100 Men to participate in a series of free suicide intervention workshops.

The workshop includes a short presentation on Men’s Mental Health Issues by A/Prof Allan Huggins and Lifeline WA will present SafeTALK – a half day suicide alertness education program. We encourage men from 18 to 80 years old from all walks of life to participate in these valuable, practical and life promoting workshops. The workshops will be held in four locations across the metro area, they are fully catered and fuel vouchers are available to reimburse travel costs.
